The City of Irondale elects a Mayor as well as a five-member City Council. Each Council Member represents a district, and there are no "at-large" members. The Irondale City Council approved a map for redistricting based on the latest census data on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Irondale's last election was held in 2020. In 2021, the Alabama State Legislature voted to remove municipal elections from the same calendar year as presidential elections. Due to this change, officials elected in 2020 had their terms extended to 2025. Municipal elections are held every four years, on the 4th Tuesday in August, beginning in 2025.
Irondale City Clerk, Leigh Allison, is responsible for overseeing the election process.
